A story for my mum.

SHOES
Lily was visiting Grandma.
Grandma smiled at Lily and said, 'Lily, I have been thinking. I want to give you something.'
Is it a present? Asked Lily.
'It is.' Said Grandma. 'When I was little, my Grandmother made me something very special and I have kept them for my whole life, and now I have made a pair just for you. I want you to have these Magic Shoes.'
A magic pair of shoes? asked Lily
'Yes, Magic Shoes.' Said Grandma. 'Shoes are amazing things, if you put these Shoes on, you can be whatever you want, you can do whatever you think of.'
'That is not true' said Lily.
'It is' Said Granny.
'My Magic Shoes, have taken me on the most amazing adventures.
I travelled across the desert on the back of a camel.
I went under the water and swam with dolphins and sea lizards.
I even paddled in the Dead Sea and luckily came back alive.'
'Really Granny, did they really do all that?'
'Ohh yes, I promise they did.'
'They have let me meet some of the most amazing people in the world.
I met an astronaut, who had been on the moon.
I travelled on a sled pulled by husky dogs to meet Father Christmas. I talked to a Red Indian Chief at the Grand Canyon and I climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge, I even went to Dracula's castle, but I am not sure if I actually met him.
One day I was asked to tea with the Princess of England!
When I put these on, I feel like I can do anything.' Said Grandma.
You see, all you need to do, is pull these on, they go right over the top of your normal shoes and you can do whatever it is that you set your mind to. They are great for pretending, but they are also great for living. And I want you to have this pair.
Would you like to put them on now? Said Grandma
'Yes please, I would love to.' Said Lily
'What do you want to do now Granny? We can do anything we want, we can go anywhere. We can meet anyone.' Lily was very excited
Granny smiled. 'I think I want to sit here with you and play.' She said, 'How about you?'
'I would like that too.' said Lily.
